The following clubs have submitted a newsletter this month:
East Missouri Optimist is now registered with eScrip to use cards from Schnucks when we shop there. Schnucks will match up to 3% of our purchases with a donation to East Missouri Optimist. Also, there is an opportunity to get donations through eScrip by registering your credit card and shopping online with JCPenney, Lowes, Sears, Amazon, Expedia, Home Depot, Staples, Barnes & Noble and WalMart to name just a few. They also have Dining Rewards of up to 5% when dining in many restaurants. Please spread the word to family, friends, etc. All they need to do is pick up a card at Schnucks customer service counter and use it. They have 5 days to register it by calling or going on-line. Our Group name is: East Missouri Optimist. Our Group I. D. # is: 500024422. If they are already supporters of another organization they can add us to their card by contacting eScrip. This is a win – win as the merchants benefit from your shopping and we get donations from them. Cost to East Missouri Optimist? A little time!
Welcome to all my East Missouri Optimist friends and fellow members. I want to thank our Immediate-Past Governor, Loretta Kelly, for all the help in preparing me for the 2010-2011 Optimist year. My theme this year is “Bridging Generations: Helping Kids.” Each member of EMO can be a part of the bridge to lead the next generation to help kids through their personal membership in Optimist International.
For this new year of 2010 – 2011 as your governor, I am asking every Optimist Club Member, in this EMO District 30 to be a part of the bridge for future generations.
Each club in EMO is an autonomous club and serving their communities well. However, if Optimist International is to survive for the future generations we must all become more active in growing our Great organization.
With your help EMO can accomplish tremendous growth. I hope that each club will reach out and charter JOOI clubs in your local schools. I encourage you to reach out to the communities near you and charter a new optimist club for the kids in that area. I challenge you to reach out to your friends who cannot become members at this time to become a “Friend of Optimist.”
Please take a look at the Strategic Plan for this year. This will give you an idea of the plan that I have set before us to get where I think all of us want to be.
I look forward to seeing you at each of our quarterly conferences, the International Convention in Baltimore, and at our District Convention. In between these events, please feel free to contact me at any time – by home phone, cell phone, or e-mail.
